Kodansha USA Adds The Café Terrace And Its Goddesses, Raised by the Demon Kings!, & Gamaran: Shura Digital Manga This October

Anime News Network has announced exclusively that Kodansha USA have licensed three new digital manga releases that will be released throughout October. The new releases will include Kouji Seo’s The Café Terrace and Its Goddesses, Kousuke Iijima’s Raised by the Demon Kings!, and Yousuke Nakamura’s Gamaran: Shura

Here are the full details for each release: 


The romantic comedy manga series The Café Terrace and Its Goddesses (known in Japan as Megami no Café Terrace) will be released digitally for the first time in English on October 18, 2022.  

In addition to inspiring an upcoming 2023 TV anime series, the manga is also receiving a collaboration with CAPCOM’s Street Fighter fighting game franchise.

Seo’s manga series was first launched in Kodansha’s Weekly Shounen Magazine on February 17, 2021. The manga is published under the Shounen Magazine Comics imprint and has released seven total tankoubon volumes as of September 2022. 

Kodansha USA describes the manga as: 

When Hayato’s grandmother passed, he planned to sell her rundown café on the shore—not realizing that it was also home to five young women who call themselves her family?! Their desperation to keep the café open convinces Hayato to give it a shot…but even their best intentions might not be enough to make it work! And can he even work with these five unruly women? No matter what, he’s got his work cut out for him! A fun new romcom by the author of Fuuka and Suzuka!


Kousuke Iijima’s Raised by the Demon Kings! manga series will be released digitally on October 4, 2022. It was first launched in Kodansha’s Magazine Special on September 20, 2014 before moving to Manga Box when Magazine Special stopped publication in 2017. The series concluded on May 16, 2019 with 161 chapters collected in total. The eighth and final tankoubon volume was released later that June.

Kodansha USA describes the manga series as: 

Death Castle, the seat of power in the Demon World, is home to three demon kings…and a toddler?! The High Demon King, Death Mask, and his co-rulers Demon King Giant Rock and Demon King Dark Knight find that though they command powerful legions of evil, they aren’t immune to a child’s cries…and so the sweet, innocent human child Maris will grow up under their care! After all, how hard can raising a child be…?


Gamaran: Shura is a manga series by Yousuke Nakamaru, which is a follow-up to his 2009 Gamaran series. It will be released on October 25, 2022. 

Nakamaru first launched the manga in Kodansha’s Magazine Pocket app on March 7, 2018. 22 tankoubon volumes have been released as of September 2022. 

The original Gamaran manga ran in Kodansha’s Weekly Shounen Magazine from May 13, 2009 to June 26, 2013. That series concluded with 22 tankoubon volumes in total and has also been released by Kodansha USA.

Gamaran: Shura is described by Kodansha USA as: 

It’s been two years since the infamous Unabara Tournament, but things aren’t over for Iori Sengoku—in fact, he’s received a summons from the Tokugawa Shogunate.
