Netflix has announced at its Tudum Japan livestream that the Make My Day anime film will debut on the streaming platform in February 2023. The film is based on an original story and concept from manga artist Yasuo Ootagaki (Moonlight Mile, Mobile Suit Gundam Thunderbolt)
New visual stills from Make My Day were also released, along with the mechanical design of the film’s two-legged robot Casper mecha. The sketch was illustrated by Ootagaki, who provided the original designs, with Shouji Kawamori (Macross) finalizing them as the film’s mechanical designer.

Other production staff involved in the project include Makoto Honda (Sakura Kakumei: Hana Saku Otome-tachi CG director) as director, Yumiko Yoshizawa (FLCL Progressive assistant production manager) as screenplay and script writer, and Kensuke Ushio (Chainsaw Man) as music composer. Kiyotaka Oshiyama (Flip Flappers, FLCL Progressive mechanical design) is assisting Kawamori as mechanical designer for the film. Taiwanese 3DCG animation studio 5 Inc. is serving as the animation production company.
The main voice cast for Make My Day is headlined by Masaomi Yamahashi as Jim, Ayahi Takagaki as Marie, Kazuhiro Yamaji as Walter, and Akio Ootsuka as Commander Bark.
Netflix describes the synopsis of Make My Day as:
On a cold planet of ice and snow, mysterious creatures suddenly have appeared from the dark underground and have begun to attack the inhabitants. Can humanity survive the terror lurking beyond the horizon?
