Crunchyroll describes the movie’s plot as:

A long-running conspiracy is swirling over a mysterious power known as “Queen” in Raja, a small country west of Tempest. When a slime who evolved into a Demon Lord named Rimuru Tempest crosses paths with Hiiro, a survivor of the Ogre race, an incredible adventure packed with new characters begins. The power of bonds will be put to the test!

The staff includes Yasuhito Kikuchi (That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime Season 1) as director, Kazuyuki Fudeyasu (That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime series composer and scriptwriter) as scriptwriter, Ryouma Ebata (That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime) as character designer, and Takahiro Kishida (That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime) as monster designer. That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime author Fuse handled the story draft. Eight Bit is again the animation production company.

Other returning staff from the series include Ayumi Satou as art director, Maki Saitou as color designer, and Hiroshi Satou as photography director. On the other hand, Elements Garden’s Hitoshi Fujima is now credited with the music composition (Elements Garden was credited for the series).

The That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime series is based on Taiki Kawakami‘s Kodansha-published manga adaptation of Fuse’s light novels, which is serialized in Monthly Shonen Sirius and published under the Sirius KC label. The manga began in 2015 and has 21 volumes as of July 2022.

The light novel series, which is illustrated by Mitz Vah and published under Micro Magazine’s GC Novels label, began in 2014 and will release its 20th volume on September 30, 2022. The story began as a web novel in 2013 on Shousetsuka ni Narou.

Melvyn originally wanted to write about video games, and he did so for a few years, starting from his college days. He still writes about video games sometimes, but now focuses on anime-related news content and the occasional review. Some of his free time is spent self-learning Japanese, both out of interest in the language and because English-translated light novels and manga are expensive. Every anime season, Melvyn looks forward to discovering new standout episodes and OP/ED animation sequences, as well as learning about the storyboard artists and directors behind them.
