Jujutsu Kaisen’s first season aired from October 2020 to March 2021 with 24 episodes. The supernatural action anime is based on the Shueisha-published manga by Gege Akutami, which began in 2018 and has 20 tankoubon volumes as of August 2022.

The main staff of Jujutsu Kaisen‘s first season includes Sunghoo Park (The God of High School) as director, Yui Umemoto (Granblue Fantasy: The Animation Season 2) as assistant director, Hiroshi Seko (Attack on Titan: The Final Season series composer) as series composer and scriptwriter, and Tadashi Hiramatsu (Yuri!!! on Ice) as character designer. MAPPA produced the show.

Meanwhile, the main cast includes Junya Enoki as Yuji Itadori, Yuuma Uchida as Megumi Fushiguro, Asami Seto as Nobara Kugisaki, and Yuuichi Nakamura as Satoru Gojo.

The manga is serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump and published under the Jump Comics label. A prequel manga titled Jujutsu Kaisen 0 was first serialized in Jump GIGA in 2017 under a different title and later published as a single volume manga in November 2018. An anime movie adaptation of Jujutsu Kaisen 0 movie premiered in Japan on December 24 and became the country’s 15th top-grossing movie.

Melvyn originally wanted to write about video games, and he did so for a few years, starting from his college days. He still writes about video games sometimes, but now focuses on anime-related news content and the occasional review. Some of his free time is spent self-learning Japanese, both out of interest in the language and because English-translated light novels and manga are expensive. Every anime season, Melvyn looks forward to discovering new standout episodes and OP/ED animation sequences, as well as learning about the storyboard artists and directors behind them.
