The BASTARD!! -Heavy Metal, Dark Fantasy- anime series will unleash its second cour on Netflix on September 15. A trailer previewing Dark Schneider and co’s future battles and the villain Abigail has been released in the meantime.
The first 13 episodes premiered on Netflix on June 30. The second cour will have 11 episodes.
Netflix describes the second cour as:
As Abgail gets closer to awakening the ancient God of Destruction, Dark Schneider and his allies must face a growing threat from dark forces.
BASTARD!! is based on the Shueisha-published dark fantasy manga by Kazushi Hagiwara, which began in 1988 and was first serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump. It was last serialized in Ultra Jump before entering hiatus, with 27 tankoubon volumes have been published as of 2012. The manga previously received a 1992 to 1993 OVA adaptation.
The 2022 anime series is directed by Takaharu Ozaki (Wave!! Let’s Go Surfing!!) with Yousuke Kuroda (My Hero Academia) as series composer, Sayaka Ono (Cross Ange Rondo of Angel and Dragon) as character designer, Raita Sunaga (Hortensia Saga co-monster designer) as creature designer, Kusanagi’s Kazuhiro Inoue (Higurashi no Naku Koro ni — Sotsu) as art director, Aiko Shinohara (Hortensia Saga) as color designer, Junpei Takatsu (Child of Kamiari Month) as photography director, and Yasuharu Takanashi (Talentless Nana) as music composer. LIDEN FILMS is the animation production studio.
Meanwhile, the cast includes Kishou Taniyama as Dark Schneider, Tomori Kusunoki as Tia Noto Yoko, Hiroki Yasumoto as Gara, Youko Hikasa as Arshes Nei, Kanae Itou as Lushe Renren, Tomokazu Sugita as Dark Priest Abigail, Kensho Ono as Kall-Su, Nao Touyama as Princess Sheila, Yoshitsugu Matsuoka as Lars, Ari Ozawa as Sean Ari, Shizuka Itou as Kai Harn, and Takehito Koyasu as Di-amon.

In a post apocalyptic world of heavy metal fantasy, the only thing able to save humans from orcs, lizard men, and other monsters is something even MORE evil. Sealed within a 14-year-old boy, the chaotic wizard Dark Schneider is unleashed to fight four mighty generals and their plot to resurrect the evil god Anslasax.
