Kouji Seo’s Megami no Cafe Terrace Receives TV Anime Series in 2023

A television anime adaptation of Kouji Seo’s romantic comedy manga Megami no Cafe Terrace will premiere in 2023. Further details about the animation production company and staff will be announced at a later date. 

Kouji Seo also posted the anime adaptation announcement on his Twitter page. 

The original manga series was first serialized in Kodansha’s Weekly Shounen Magazine on February 17, 2021. The manga is published under the Shounen Magazine Comics imprint and has released six tankoubon volumes in total as of June 2022.

Kouji Seo has previously created manga series such as Suzuka, Fuuka, and A Town Where You Live. Suzuka received a 26-episode anime adaptation in 2005 while its sequel, Fuuka, had its own 12-episode anime series from Diomedea in 2017. A 12-episode anime series of A Town Where You Live aired in 2013, along with several OVAs.

The story of Megami no Cafe Terrace follows a young student named Hayato Kasukabe, who has just been accepted into the University of Tokyo. After the death of his estranged grandmother, Hayato returns to his home town to shut down her seaside cafe, Cafe Terrace Familia. When Hayato arrives, he encounters five strange girls working at the cafe, with each of their own struggles and circumstances. After some careful thought, he decides to keep the cafe open.
