Overlord Movie Releases Teaser Visual

A teaser visual has been released for the upcoming Overlord: Seiou Koku Hen (Holy Kingdom Arc) movie, which was announced in 2021.

The movie is based on the light novels’ “The Paladin of the Holy Kingdom Arc,” which is covered in volumes 12 and 13. Yen Press describes volume 12 as:

The Sacred Kingdom has enjoyed a great many years without war thanks to a colossal wall constructed after a historic tragedy. They understand best how fragile peace can be. When the terrible demon Jaldabaoth takes to the field at the head of a united army of monstrous tribes, the Sacred Kingdom’s leaders know their defenses are not enough. With the very existence of the country at stake, the pious have no choice but to seek help wherever they can get it, even if it means breaking taboo and parlaying with the undead king of the Nation of Darkness!

The Madhouse-produced Overlord anime began in 2015, with its fourth season premiering on July 5, 2022. The series’s main staff includes Naoyuki Itou as director, Yukie Sugawara as series composer and scriptwriter, and Team-MAX’s Shuuji Katayama as music composer. Season 2 and 3 co-character designer Satoshi Tasaki is the character designer for the latest season.

Overlord began as a web novel on Arcadia in 2010 and was published on Shousetsuka ni Narou from 2012. The Kadokawa-published light novels, written by Kugane Maruyama with illustrations by so-bin, began in 2012 and have 15 volumes as of June 2022. The light novel series has inspired a manga adaptation and a manga spin-off.

Crunchyroll describes the anime as:

When a popular MMORPG is scheduled to be shut down permanently, veteran player Momonga refuses to log out. As NPCs begin to develop personalities and minds of their own he decides to put his skills to use as the game’s new overlord.
