Crunchyroll has announced that its annual Anime Awards ceremony will take place in Japan for the first time in 2023. The live ceremony will be held on Saturday, March 4, 2023 at the Grand Prince Hotel New Takanawa in Tokyo.

The location change for the ceremony aims to unite the studios, creators, musicians and voice actors behind the anime community’s favorite series, films, and music. Crunchyroll will be working with Sony Music Solutions — a subdivision of Sony Music Entertainment Japan — to coordinate the event and will be streaming it on many of its social media channels.

The 2023 Anime Awards will also be set to feature a premier event full of fans, celebrities, creators, musicians, and special performances evocative of the anime artform.

The Crunchyroll Anime Awards is an annual celebration of fan-favorite anime series, characters, and creators, voted by fans and judges from across the globe. Last year, a record 16.9 million votes were cast for nominees representing nearly 40 anime studios across eight streaming platforms.

Nominees and voting will open early next year. More information about the Anime Awards will be made available later on the official website and Crunchyroll’s social media channels.
