MAPPA has revealed an October premiere date for the upcoming Chainsaw Man anime adaptation. The release date was shown at the end of a new trailer that was first previewed during an August 5 special livestream program.

The main cast members were revealed as well. They include Tomori Kusunoki as Makima, Kikunosuke Toya as Denji, Shogo Sakata as Aki, and Fairouz Ai as Power.

Crunchyroll previously announced that it will simulcast the show “later this year.”

The Chainsaw Man manga debuted in 2018 and is written and illustrated by Tatsuki Fujimoto. The first part of the manga ran from 2019 to 2021 in Weekly Shonen Jump. The second part began serialization on the Shonen Jump+ app and website in July.

Viz Media describes the plot as:

Denji’s a poor young man who’ll do anything for money, even hunting down devils with his pet devil Pochita. He’s a simple man with simple dreams, drowning under a mountain of debt. But his sad life gets turned upside down one day when he’s betrayed by someone he trusts. Now with the power of a devil inside him, Denji’s become a whole new man—Chainsaw Man!

Melvyn originally wanted to write about video games, and he did so for a few years, starting from his college days. He still writes about video games sometimes, but now focuses on anime-related news content and the occasional review. Some of his free time is spent self-learning Japanese, both out of interest in the language and because English-translated light novels and manga are expensive. Every anime season, Melvyn looks forward to discovering new standout episodes and OP/ED animation sequences, as well as learning about the storyboard artists and directors behind them.
