The story follows Haruyoshi, a powerful onmyouji who is left on the verge of death after a betrayal by his allies. After attempting a secret reincarnation technique, Haruyoshi reincarnates into another world as part of a family of magic-users. While he is judged to have no magical ability, Haruyoshi perceives the magic in this world as being inferior to the onmyouji powers he still possesses, and thus believes that he can get by without it.
The story originated as a web novel on Shousetsuka ni Narou in 2018, which won the seventh Net Shousetsu Taishou award. A new publication of the light novels under the Monster Bunko label with illustrations from Yuunagi is set to begin on July 29.
