At its Natsu no Gakuensai 2022 event, Kadokawa has announced that the Sasaki and Peeps light novel series will be receiving a television anime series. Information about the animation studio and production staff will be released at a later date.

A commemorative teaser key visual drawn by light novel artist Kantoku was released, along with a special announcement teaser trailer. The fantasy-comedy anime series will also star Tomokazu Sugita as main character Sasaki and Aoi Yuuki as his pet sparrow, Peeps.

Sasaki and Peeps first started out as a web novel written and published by Buncololi on Shousetsuka ni Narou on December 4, 2018. It was then formally published as a light novel series under Media Factory’s MF Bunko J imprint on January 25, 2021, with new artwork by Kantoku. Five physical volumes of the series have been released as of July 2022.

A manga adaptation with new illustrations by Pureji Osho was released on January 22, 2021 in Shounen Ace Plus online magazine. Two tankoubon volumes have been released in total so far.

Yen Press licenses both the light novels and manga versions of Sasaki and Peeps in English. It describes the first volume of the light novel as:

Tired and unfulfilled by his dead-end job, Sasaki decides to adopt Peeps, an adorable pet Java sparrow. Peeps, however, is really Piercarlo, a powerful sage from another world! After Peeps bestows Sasaki with magic and the ability to cross worlds, the two decide to export household items for profit in pursuit of a leisurely lifestyle. But when Sasaki’s new magic gets him mixed up in a whole other kind of supernatural struggle back in Japan, will it destroy his chances at realizing the relaxing life of his dreams?
