A new key visual has been released for the upcoming second season of POP TEAM EPIC. Two versions have been released, with one featuring different designs of Pipimi and Popuko and one without them. The second season is scheduled to air sometime in October 2022

POP TEAM EPIC’s first season aired in 2018, while a “remix version” called POP TEAM EPIC REPEAT broadcasted in 2021, along with two television specials. It featured an ensemble voice cast playing the roles of Popuko and Pipimi in each segment.

The main production staff is highlighted by the return of Jun Aoki (Ore, Tsushima) as director and series scriptwriter, who handled both duties in the first season. Tooru Kanagae (When Will Ayumu Make His Move?) is serving as the sound director, Yasumasa Koyama (Princess Connect! Re:Dive Season 2) is providing the series’ sound effects, and Gin (My Isekai Life) is scoring the music. Space Neko Company and Kamikaze Douga are in charge of the second season’s animation production.

The series is based on the manga by Bukubu Ookawa, which was first published on August 29, 2014. It is currently serialized in Manga Life Win magazine and released its sixth “season” in 2021. Five tankoubon volumes have been published in total so far.

Crunchyroll is streaming the POP TEAM EPIC anime series. It describes the anime as:

Crude, rude, and a little…cute? Get ready for the larger-than-life attitude of Popuko and Pipimi, the small and tall stars of Pop Team Epic! Based off the bizarre four-panel webcomic by Bukubu Okawa comes a comedy that’ll throw you off with its out-there jokes and intense absurdity. You think you’re ready for these girls? Think again, F#%**er!
