A new key visual and PV trailer have been released for the second cour of A Couple of Cuckoos. The production team also revealed new musical artists that will be performing the second cour’s opening and ending theme songs.
The second opening theme is “Glitter,” performed by Japanese rock band sumika. Meanwhile, the ending theme “HELLO HELLO HELLO” will be performed by singer Eir Aoi. The new animated and opening theme songs can be viewed on Kadokawa’s YouTube channel on July 16, 2022.
Additionally, episode 13 of A Couple of Cuckoos will not broadcast this week due to special programming and will instead air on July 23, 2022. The first cour began airing in April 2022 with Crunchyroll streaming the series worldwide, except in Asian territories.
The main voice cast of the anime series includes Kaito Ishikawa as Nagi Umino, Akari Kitou as Erika Amano, Nao Touyama as Hiro Segawa, Konomi Kohara as Sachi Umino, Ryouhei Kimura as Yohei Umino, Youko Hikasa as Namie Umino, Toshiyuki Morikawa as Sochirou Amano, and Yukiko Aruga as Ritsuko Amano.
The production staff consists of Hiroaki Akagi (Teasing Master Takagi-san Season 1–3) as chief director, Yoshiyuki Shirahata (Osamake: Romcom Where The Childhood Friend Won’t Lose storyboarder and episode director) as director, Yasuhiro Nakanishi (Kaguya-sama: Love Is War Season 1–3) as series composer, and Aya Takano (Teasing Master Takagi-san Season 1–3) as character designer. Shin-Ei Animation and SynergySP are collaborating on the animation production work.
The original A Couple of Cuckoos manga was first created by Miki Yoshikawa in January 29, 2020 and has published 12 tankoubon volumes as of July 2022. The series is currently serialized in Kodansha’s Weekly Shonen Magazine under the Kodansha Comics label.
Kodansha USA releases the manga series in English. It describes the story as:
16-year-old super-studier Nagi Umino, second-year student at the Meguro River Academy high school, was switched at birth. On his way to a dinner to meet his birth parents, he accidentally meets the brash, outspoken, Erika Amano, who is determined to make Nagi her fake boyfriend as she never wants to actually marry. But once Nagi makes it to dinner, he finds his parents have decided to resolve the hospital switch by conveniently having him marry the daughter his birth parents raised…who turns out to be none other than Erika herself!
