Bandai Namco Entertainment America has uploaded a new developer diary video for its upcoming One Piece Odyssey game on its YouTube channel. The game will launch sometime in 2022 on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series, and PC via Steam.

In the video, game producer Katsuaki Tsuzuki and musical composer Motoi Sakuraba discuss how the game was created and how they collaborated with One Piece editor-in-chief Ken Takano. They also talked about how original manga creator Eiichirou Oda was involved in the creative process and how the game’s musical score was created.

One Piece Odyssey will allow players to control several characters from the One Piece universe, including Luffy, Zoro, Nami, Usopp, Sanji, Chopper, Robin, Frankie, and Brook.

ILCA (Pokémon Brilliant Diamond/Shining Pearl) is developing the video game and Bandai Namco Entertainment is handling production. Original manga creator Eiichirou Oda is credited with the original story and character/monster designs.

Oda first launched the original manga series on July 22, 1997 in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump. In addition to inspiring a long-running anime series in 1999, the franchise has also released various films, video games, music, light novels, artbooks, and a live-action Netflix series

On their official website, the game is described as:

During their voyage, the Straw Hats, led by Monkey D. Luffy are swallowed by a huge storm at sea. They end up on a mysterious island full of nature amidst the storm and become separated from each other. The crew set out on a new adventurous journey filled with wonders of a raging nature, powerful enemies, and strange encounters with island locals.
