Crunchyroll has announced its plans for this year’s San Diego Comic-Con (SDCC) at San Diego Convention Center from July 21-24. The anime streaming service is planning to host huge panel events, musical concerts, and a promotional booth to support the upcoming Dragon Ball Super: SUPER HERO anime film.

To cement its presence at San Diego Comic-Con, Crunchyroll has branded various city buses from the San Diego Metropolitan Transit System ahead of the event that will feature artwork from My Hero Academia, Chainsaw Man, Attack on Titan, SPY x FAMILY, and many more. A commemorative design of Dragon Ball Super: SUPER HERO will also be featured on select buses.

Additionally, special Crunchyroll newspapers will also be printed and distributed to SDCC attendees. It will cover all the latest and anime news from the convention. The streaming service also promises special free giveaways and swag handouts at their booth.

The Dragon Ball Super: SUPER HERO panel will take place on Friday, July 22, 2022 at Hall H.  It will feature a Q&A panel with Japanese voice actor Toshio Furukawa (Japanese voice of Piccolo), Christopher R. Sabat (English voice of Piccolo), executive producer Akio Iyoku, and producer Norihiro Hayashida. The panel will discuss insights and stories from production of the new anime film and have a special giveaway for lucky fans. The first 20 minutes of Dragon Ball Super: SUPER HERO will also be screened ahead of its North American premiere on August 19.

Crunchyroll and Toei Animation will also produce a unique Dragon Ball Super: SUPER HERO themed booth (at Booth #4135) that serves as a replica of Piccolo’s home as featured in the new film.

After the Dragon Ball Super panel, Crunchyroll will continue the party with a special two-night concert series at the iconic Rady Shell at Jacobs Park. Both concerts are free to attend for SDCC badge holders.

The first concert event, in collaboration with 88rising, will be a Crunchyroll-hime dance party with DJ Jun Inagawa and J-pop girl group ATARASHII GAKKO! performing on stage. It will take place later that Friday evening from around 7:00 PM to 9:30 PST.

It will be performed by the San Diego Symphony Orchestra, led by Australian conductor and composer Nicholas Buc. This concert event will take place on Saturday, July 23 at 7:00 PM PST.

Crunchyroll is also hosting its own industry panel in Room 6A on Thursday, July 21, 2022. It will be moderated by Tim Lyu and Lauren Moore and feature the latest news, trailers, and information regarding the company. The time of the event will be determined at a later date.
