Classroom of the Elite Reveals New Key Visual & PV Trailer For Second Season

A new key visual and PV trailer has been released for the second season of Classroom of the Elite. The new visual showcases Class 1-C representative Kakeru Ryuuen staring down lead protagonist Kiyotaka Ayanokouji. The second season is scheduled to premiere on July 4, 2022 while a third season is due for release sometime in 2023. 

The production team also revealed new characters that will join the second season. Souma Saitou will be voicing Miyabi Nagumo while Rie Takahashi will voice Hiyori Shiina.

Saitou and Takahashi join the returning cast from the first season, which includes Shouya Chiba as Kiyotaka Ayanokoji, Masaaki Muzuanka as Kakeru Ryuen, Akari Kitou as Suzune Horikita, Yurika Kubo as Kikyo Kushida, Ayana Taketatsu as Kei Karuizawa, Ryouta Osaka as Yosuke Hirata, and Rina Hidaka as Arisu Sakayanagi.

The second season of Classroom of the Elite’s staff consists of Seiji Kishi and Hiroyuki Hashimoto (Classroom of the Elite directors) as chief directors, Yoshihito Nishouji (Classroom of the Elite Ep 6-12 director assistance, Rumble Garanndoll assistant director) as director, Hayato Kazano (Classroom of the Elite and Rumble Garanndoll scriptwriter) as series screenwriter, and Kazuaki Morita (Classroom of the Elite) as character designer. Masaru Yokoyama (Fruits Basket: The Final Season) and Kana Hashiguchi (A3! Season Autumn & Winter co-composer) are the music composers. Lerche is once again handling the animation production. 

Classroom of the Elite is based on the light novel series written by Shougo Kinugasa and illustrated by Shunsaku Tomose. The light novels ran from May 25, 2015 to September 25, 2019 with 11 total volumes and 3 short story anthologies. A sequel series titled Classroom of the Elite: Year 2 began on January 24, 2020 and has released seven volumes in total so far. The books are published under Kadokawa’s MF Bunko J label.

The light novel series has also inspired several manga adaptations, including one for Classroom of the Elite: Year 2 that began in December 2021. Seven Seas Entertainment publishes the original light novel series and its manga adaptation in English.

Crunchyroll will stream the series as it airs in Japan as part of its Summer 2022 schedule. It describes the first season of the anime as:

Kiyotaka Ayanokoji has just enrolled at Tokyo Koudo Ikusei Senior High School, where it’s said that 100% of students go on to college or find employment. But he ends up in Class 1-D, which is full of all the school’s problem children. What’s more, every month, the school awards students points with a cash value of 100,000 yen, and the classes employ a laissez-faire policy in which talking, sleeping, and even sabotage are permitted during class. One month later, Ayanokoji, Horikita, and the students of Class D learn the truth of the system in place within their school…
