Sentai filmworks has announced that it has acquired the exclusive rights to the League of Nations Air Force Aviation Magic Band Luminous Witches anime series. The musical mecha series is a standalone spin-off of the Strike Witches franchise and is scheduled to premiere on July 3, 2022.
Luminous Witches will premiere exclusively on HIDIVE during the Summer 2022 anime simulcast season. A home video release will follow soon after.
Based on an original story by Fumikane Shimada and Projekt World Witches, the anime series is directed and written by Shoji Saeki (Medaka Box, FLCL episode director), with Shimada (Frame Arms Girl, Girls und Panzer) providing original character designs. Other anime production staff includes Kana Shundou (Princess Connect! Re: Dive, Assault Lily BOUQUET image boarder) as assistant director, Kazuya Shiotsuki (Assault Lily BOUQUET sub-character designer and co-animation director) as character designer, Mina Ootaka (Sword Art Online Alicization – War of Underworld animation director) as familiar designer, Jin Hibino ( Magia Record: Puella Magi Madoka Magica Side Story Season 2 -The Eve of Awakening-) as color designer, Rei Egami (Magia Record: Puella Magi Madoka Magica Side Story Season 2 -The Eve of Awakening-) as photography director, and Gou Wakabayashi (So I’m a Spider, So What?) as music producer. SHAFT is in charge of the animation production.
The anime stars Mai Narumi as Virginia Robertson, Minako Hosokawa as Inori Shibuya, Ami Aimoto as Lyudmila Andreyevna Ruslanova, Ryou Mamiya as Aira Paivikki Linnamaa, Sayaka Tsuduki as Eleonore Giovanna Gassion, Kana Konaka as Maria Magdalene Dietrich, Misaki Yuuki as Manaia Matawhaura Hato, Rino Yoshikita as Silvie Cariello, and Rio Mamesaki as Joanna Elizabeth Stafford.
