GKIDS has announced that it has acquired the exclusive theatrical and home video rights to Hideaki Anno’s Evangelion: 3.0+1.0 Thrice Upon a Time. They also have the film’s electronic sell-through (EST) rights, which would allow consumers to download the film for a one-time fee.
The final film in Studio Khara’s Rebuild of Evangelion tetralogy will be screened in North American theaters sometime in late 2022. Amazon Prime Video currently has the exclusive worldwide streaming rights for the film on its platform.
Evangelion: 3.0+1.0 Thrice Upon a Time premiered on March 8, 2021, after being delayed from its initial June 27, 2020 and January 21, 2021 release dates.

The film’s animation production staff included Hideaki Anno as chief director and scriptwriter, Yoshiyuki Sadamoto (Great Pretender, Neon Genesis Evangelion) as the original character designer, Yusuke Matsui (Mobile Police Patlabor Reboot) as CGI animation director, and Shirou Sagisu (SSSS.Gridman, Neon Genesis Evangelion) as the music composer. Studio Khara handled the animation production.
The first three Rebuild of Evangelion films, Evangelion: 1.0 You Are (Not) Alone, Evangelion: 2.0 You Can (Not) Advance, and Evangelion: 3.0 You Can (Not) Redo were released in 2007, 2009, and 2012 respectively. The film series are a new retelling of the original 1995 Neon Genesis Evangelion television anime series, which is currently streaming on Netflix along with the Death and Rebirth and The End of Evangelion movies.
