ORIENT is based on the manga series of the same name by Magi creator Shinobu Ohtaka. It first began serialization in Kodansha’s Weekly Shounen Magazine on May 30, 2018, before moving to Bessatsu Shounen Magazine on February 9, 2021. 15 tankoubon volumes have been published in total so far.

Crunchyroll streamed the first cour of the series in English during the Winter 2022 anime season. They will do so again for the second cour this coming Summer 2022. It describes the anime series as:

When unidentified creatures known as Kishin suddenly appeared in Japan, all of the most famous military leaders were killed in battle, and the end of the world seemed close at hand.

Now, 150 years later, demons still rule the world, and only the Band of Bushi continues to fight for freedom. Musashi and Kojiro, out of admiration for these brave fighters, strive to form the strongest Band of Bushi in this classic battle action story of friends passionately chasing a dream.
