As part of a series of announcements from Netflix Geeked Week, the streaming service shared an exclusive sneak peek of the set designs for their upcoming live-action One Piece television series.

Actor Iñaki Godoy, who will play Monkey D. Luffy in the series, along with showrunners Steven Maeda and Matt Owens, expressed their excitement at bringing the set pieces from Eiichirou Oda’s manga series to life in the live-action series. Filming is currently taking place in South Africa.

The video showcases concept art from different settings, such as the interior and exterior of Miss Love Duck and The Going Merry.

They also featured concept art for the Baratie restaurant, most notably its exterior appearance, dining room, and bar. An impressive time-lapse showcases the detailed construction to recreate the Baratie’s bar area.

Netflix also announced additional cast members for its live-action adaptation. They include Alexander Maniatus as Klahadore, Steven Ward as Mihawk, Craig Fairbrass as Chef Zeff, Langley Kirkwood as Captain Morgan, Celeste Loots as Kaya, and Chioma Umeala as Nojiko.

They join a main cast headlined by Godoy as Luffy, Mackenyu as Roronoa Zoro, Emily Rudd as Nami, Jacob Romero Gibson as Usopp, and Taz Skylar as Sanji.

Oda first published his original One Piece manga series on July 22, 1997 and has 102 tankoubon volumes as of May 6, 2022. It is serialized in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump magazine.

An anime television series began in 1999 and surpassed the 1000th episode mark on November 21, 2021. The franchise has also inspired numerous video games, manga, light novels, stage plays, and spin off media.
