Drifting Home Gets 3rd Teaser Trailer

A third teaser trailer for the upcoming Drifting Home anime movie has been released. The new trailer previews more of the characters’ unusual predicament and the main pair’s relationship and interpersonal conflicts.

Drifting Home will premiere in Japanese theaters and on Netflix on September 16. It is the first of three films that will be produced by Studio Colorido for Netflix.

Netflix describes the show as:

Sixth-graders Kosuke and Natsume grew up in the same apartment building as childhood friends. During summer break, while playing in the apartment building that is set to be demolished, they find themselves caught in a strange phenomenon. All they can see around them is a vast sea. Will Kosuke and the others make it back to their world? A journey of farewells in summer has just begun.

The film is directed by Penguin Highway‘s Hiroyasu Ishida, who is also in charge of the screenplay with Hayashi Mori (Cells at Work! Code Black series composer) and Minaka Sakamoto (Babylon scriptwriter). Other staff include Akihiro Nagae (A Whisker Away animation director) as character designer, Fumi Kato (Burn the Witch animation director) as character designer assistant, and Umitaro Abe (Penguin Highway music composer) as the music composer.

Other staff include Kunihiko Inaba (Burn The Witch) as art director, Izumi Hirose (Pokémon: Twilight Wings) as color designer, and Kei Machida (Belle co-photography director) as photography director. 

Meanwhile, the cast includes Mutsumi Tamura as Kosuke Kumagai, Asami Seto as Natsume Usagiuchi, Ayumu Murase as Noppo, Daiki Yamashita as Yuzuru Tachibana, Yumiko Kobayashi as Taishi Koiwai, Inori Minase as Reina Haba, and Kana Hanazawa as Juri Ando.
