The upcoming Bibliophile Princess anime adaptation will begin in Japan sometime in October, it has been revealed. It was also announced that Reina Ueda and Ryouhei Kimura will be playing lead characters Elianna and Christopher respectively.

A teaser trailer and visual have been released as well, providing a first taste of the anime’s main character designs and voice performances, as well as the general aesthetic.

Bibliophile Princess is based on the light novels written by Yui and illustrated by Satsuki Shiina. The series began in 2016 and released its sixth volume in February 2022.

J-Novel Club describes the light novels as:

When book-loving Lady Elianna spots Prince Christopher—her betrothed in name only—consorting with another noble lady, she realizes the recent rumors must be true. The prince has someone he truly loves, which means the annulment of their engagement is both inevitable and fast-approaching. What she doesn’t realize is that this is merely a surface ripple—one of many where the truth runs deep, in a conspiracy surpassing her imagination!

Tarou Iwasaki (Sweetness and Lightning) is directing the show with Mitsutaka Hirota (EDENS ZERO) as series composer and Mizuka Takahashi (Overlord III co-sub character designer) as character designer. Madhouse is the animation production company.

The Bibliophile Princess light novels are published under Ichijinsha’s Iris Neo label. A manga adaptation by Yui Kikuta began in 2019.

Melvyn originally wanted to write about video games, and he did so for a few years, starting from his college days. He still writes about video games sometimes, but now focuses on anime-related news content and the occasional review. Some of his free time is spent self-learning Japanese, both out of interest in the language and because English-translated light novels and manga are expensive. Every anime season, Melvyn looks forward to discovering new standout episodes and OP/ED animation sequences, as well as learning about the storyboard artists and directors behind them.
