The Ya Boy Kongming! website has announced that Episodes 8 and 9 will air 10 minutes later than usual due to a late night variety program on MBS. The two episodes will now premiere in Japan at Tuesday 26:40 PM (effectively Wednesday 2:40 AM) instead of 26:30 PM on their respective dates of May 24 and May 31.

Ya Boy Kongming! premiered on April 5 and is being streamed by HiDive and Bilibili. It is based on the manga series by Yuuto Yotsuba and Ryou Ogawa, which began serialization in 2019 and has nine tankoubon volumes as of April 2022. The manga is serialized in Kodansha’s Comic Days app/website and Weekly Young Magazine, and published under the Young Magazine Comics label. The main character, Zhuge Kongming, is based on the real life Chinese military statesmen and strategist of the same name, who was active during the Three Kingdoms era.

Kodansha describes the manga series as:

General of the Three Kingdoms, Kongming had struggled his whole life, facing countless battles that made him into the accomplished strategist he was. So on his deathbed, he wished only to be reborn into a peaceful world…and was sent straight to modern-day party-central, Tokyo! Can even a brilliant strategist like Kongming adapt to the wild beats and even wilder party people?!

The main staff of the show includes Osamu Honma (The Aquatope on White Sand episode director) as director, Yoko Yonaiyama (Umamusume: Pretty Derby Season 2 scriptwriter) as series composer, and Kanami Sekiguchi (SHIROBAKO the Movie) as character designer. P.A Works is the animation production company.

Meanwhile, the cast includes Ryoutarou Okiayu as Zhuge Kongming, Kaede Hondo and 96Neko (singing voice) as Eiko Tsukimi, Shouya Chiba as KABEtaijin, Hibiku Yamamura as Nanami Kuon, and Jun Fukushima as Owner Kobayashi.
