A television anime adaptation of Madoka Kashihara’s manga 4-nin wa Sorezore Uso wo Tsuku is in the works for a 2022 premiere. The news was confirmed earlier this week in the 18th issue of Weekly Shounen Magazine.

An exact release date, voice cast, and production team has yet to be revealed. The anime’s official Twitter account posted a special illustration to commemorate the premiere. It will air sometime this year as part of Asahi Broadcasting Corporation and TV Asahi’s “ANiMAZiNG!!!” programming block.

The original 4-nin wa Sorezore Uso wo Tsuku manga was first published in Kodansha’s Bessatsu Shounen Magazine in April 2020. The series has been on hiatus since August 2021 with one tankoubon volume published so far. The second volume will be released in Japan on April 7, 2022.

The manga follows the ordinary high school life of four girls — Rikka, Chiyo, Sekine, and Tsubasa —  who attend an all-girls school as best friends. However, each girl is hiding a ridiculous secret from the others. Rikka believes she is an extraterrestrial invader, Chiyo is a runaway shinobi, Sekine has hidden psychic abilities, and Tsubasa is actually a cross-dressing boy, who switched identities with his twin sister, so that she can attend an all-boys school with her favorite idol singer.
