Kingdom Season 4 has released a main trailer ahead of its April 9 premiere in Japan, with the trailer previewing scenes from the season’s first episode as well as the opening song “ray” by SUIREN.
Like Kingdom Season 3, the staff includes Kenichi Imaizumi as director, Noboru Takagi as series composer, Hisashi Abe as character designer, Yusuke Mizuno as art director, Miyuki Abe as color designer, Daichi Nogami as photography director, and Hiroyuki Sawano and KOHTA YAMAMOTO as music composers. Pierrot and its subsidiary St.Signpost are again the animation production companies.
Kingdom is based on the Warring States period-set manga by Yasuhisa Hara, which began in 2006 and has 64 tankoubon volumes as of February 2022. Kingdom Season 4 will see an evil threat creeping upon deuteragonist Ei Sei and his younger brother Ei Kyou, while Shin and Ouhon face strong opposition in their attempt to conquer a strategic point that will bring them closer to the unification of China. Meanwhile, a crowning ceremony that will see Ei Sei crowned as the Qin ruler draws near, as does the final struggle for power with Ryofui.
The cast includes Masakazu Morita as Shin, Jun Fukuyama as Ei Sei, Rie Kugimiya as Karyo Ten, Kentarou Itou as Huan Ji, Yoshimasa Hosoya as Ohon, Hirofumi Nojima as Moten, Shirou Saitou as Biao Gong, Kenyuu Horiuchi as Wang Jian, Taiten Kusunoki as Mobu, Akio Kato as To, Yuuya Uchida as Shun Shin Kun, Miou Tanaka as Kan Mei, Atsuko Tanaka as Ka Rin, Daisuke Namikawa as Go Ho Mei, Tatsuhisa Suzuki as Ko Yoku, and Yuuto Uemura as Haku Rei.
The Kingdom manga is serialized in Weekly Young Jump and published under the Young Jump Comics label. It inspired a PSP game in 2010 and a live-action film that was released in 2019.
The third season of Kingdom premiered in 2020, while the first two seasons premiered in 2012 and 2013 respectively. Pierrot produced all three seasons, with St.Signpost sharing animation production credits for the third season.
