Requiem of the Rose King has released a new trailer and visual for its second cour. New characters were announced as well.

The second cour of the anime will see the introduction of Tyrrell (Hikaru Midorikawa), Jane (Yuuko Kaida), Richmond (Akira Ishida), Anthony (Haruki Ishiya), Dorset (Atsushi Tamaru), and Grey (Shun’ichi Toki). Character visuals for the new additions were released as well.

Requiem of the Rose King is based on the gothic manga series by Aya Kanno. The manga, which is serialized in Akita Shoten’s Gekkan Princess magazine, began in 2014 and has 16 tankoubon volumes as of December 2021. A spin-off titled King of Idol: Baraou no Gakuen began in early 2021.

Viz Media describes the story as:

Richard, the ambitious third son of the House of York, believes he is cursed, damned from birth to eternal darkness. But is it truly fate that sets him on the path to personal destruction? Or his own tormented longings? Based on an early draft of Shakespeare’s Richard III, Aya Kanno’s dark fantasy finds the man who could be king standing between worlds, between classes, between good and evil.

Melvyn originally wanted to write about video games, and he did so for a few years, starting from his college days. He still writes about video games sometimes, but now focuses on anime-related news content and the occasional review. Some of his free time is spent self-learning Japanese, both out of interest in the language and because English-translated light novels and manga are expensive. Every anime season, Melvyn looks forward to discovering new standout episodes and OP/ED animation sequences, as well as learning about the storyboard artists and directors behind them.
