Crunchyroll announced on February 17 that it is launching its own dedicated streaming app on the Nintendo Switch. The app will allow users to stream their anime at home or on-the-go, with the option of offline viewing available as well.

This is the first time a streaming platform has offered offline viewing on the Nintendo Switch. Funimation previously launched a similar app for the Nintendo Switch in 2020.

The Crunchyroll app is powered by Epic Games’ Unreal Engine software. It will allow users to stream their favorite anime on the Switch’s TV mode, with a docked console that’s plugged into a television, and tabletop mode, where users can share their anime with others. It will also allow for viewing in handheld mode, where the attached Switch Joy-Con controllers help navigate through the menu.

Crunchyroll can be downloaded on iOS and Android mobile and tablet devices. It’s also currently available on PlayStation, Xbox, Roku, Android TV, Amazon Fire TV, Apple TV and Chromecast.
