Helck Fantasy Manga To Get Anime Adaptation

Nanaki Nanao‘s Helck fantasy manga is getting an anime adaptation. The news was announced by Shogakukan editor Shou Kobayashi on Twitter with an illustration.

Helck ran from 2014 to 2017 with 12 tankoubon volumes. It was serialized in Ura Sunday magazine and the MangaONE app and published under the Ura Shonen Sunday Comics label. The story takes place after the defeat of the Demon King at the hands of a hero. With the Demon King’s throne vacant, a battle kicks off to determine his successor. Unexpectedly, one of the participants is a mighty human called Helck, who claims to hate other humans.

Melvyn originally wanted to write about video games, and he did so for a few years, starting from his college days. He still writes about video games sometimes, but now focuses on anime-related news content and the occasional review. Some of his free time is spent self-learning Japanese, both out of interest in the language and because English-translated light novels and manga are expensive. Every anime season, Melvyn looks forward to discovering new standout episodes and OP/ED animation sequences, as well as learning about the storyboard artists and directors behind them.
