An anime adaptation of the Bibliophile Princess (Mushikaburi-hime) fantasy-romance light novel series is set to premiere sometime this year. Tarou Iwasaki (Sweetness and Lightning) is directing the Madhouse-produced show.
Other announced staff members include Mitsutaka Hirota (EDENS ZERO) as series composer and Mizuka Takahashi (Overlord III co-sub character designer) as character designer.

The Bibliophile Princess light novels are written by Yui and illustrated by Satsuki Shiina. The series began in 2016 and is published under Ichijinsha’s Iris Neo label. The sixth volume is set to be released on February 2.
The story began in 2015 as a web novel published on Shousetsuka ni Narou. The light novels have inspired a manga adaptation by Yui Kikuta. Both Shiina and Kikuta are credited as original character designers for the anime.
J-Novel Club describes the light novels as:
When book-loving Lady Elianna spots Prince Christopher—her betrothed in name only—consorting with another noble lady, she realizes the recent rumors must be true. The prince has someone he truly loves, which means the annulment of their engagement is both inevitable and fast-approaching. What she doesn’t realize is that this is merely a surface ripple—one of many where the truth runs deep, in a conspiracy surpassing her imagination!
