BLACK ROCK SHOOTER DAWN FALL’s Main Visual Revealed

The main visual for BLACK ROCK SHOOTER DAWN FALL has been released by the anime’s Twitter page. It was also revealed that an advance screening of the first episode will be held at the Shinjuku Piccadilly Cinema on February 25 and that a Pixiv illustration contest will run until February 27.

The anime is set to premiere in April in Japan. Aside from airing on Japanese TV, it will also be streamed via Disney+.

The staff of BLACK ROCK SHOOTER DAWN FALL includes Tenshou (Azur Lane The AnimationGrisaia: Phantom Trigger The Animation) as director, Makoto Fukami (Blade of the Immortal) as series composer and scriptwriter, Ryou Yoshigami (Psycho-Pass 3 scriptwriter) as assistant series composer and co-scriptwriter, and Masayuki Nonaka (Azur Lane The Animation) as character designer and chief animation director.

Other staff include huke as the original character designer and illustrator Rui Tomono with Nitroplus’s Makoto Ishiwata and Youjo Oota as concept designers. Bibury Animation Studios and Bibury Animation CG are the animation production studios.

Meanwhile, the cast includes Yui Ishikawa as Empress/ Black Rock Shooter, Saori Hayami as Dead Master, and Megumi Han as Strength.

BLACK ROCK SHOOTER originated as an original character by illustrator huke in 2007. The character inspired huke’s fellow supercell member ryo to create a song based on the illustration, with vocaloid Hatsune Miku providing the vocals. huke produced a PV for the song. 

Prior to BLACK ROCK SHOOTER DAWN FALLhuke’s creation inspired two anime in the form of an OVA in 2010 and a TV series in 2012. There have also been video games and manga featuring the character.
