A new Bottom-Tier Character Tomozaki anime is set to enter production. The announcement was accompanied by the release of a special video that ends with the words, “Continue to the next stage…”

The first season of Bottom-Tier Character Tomozaki aired in 2021 and is a nominee for Anime of the Year in the upcoming 8th Anime Trending Awards. Its main staff includes Shinsuke Yanagi (High School Prodigies Have It Easy Even in Another World) as director, Akane Yano (High School Prodigies Have It Easy Even in Another World) as character designer, Fumihiko Shimo (Ikebukuro West Gate Park) as series composer, and Hiromi Mizutani (Non Non Biyori Nonstop) as music composer. The show was produced by project No.9

Meanwhile, the cast included Gen Satou as Fumiya Tomozaki, Hisako Kanemoto as Aoi Hinami, Ikumi Hasegawa as Minami Nanami, Ai Kayano as Fuuka Kikuchi, Maekawa Ryoko as Hanabi Natsubayashi, and Nene Hieda as Yuzu Izumi.

Bottom-Tier Character Tomozaki is based on the light novels by Yuuki Yaku with illustrations from Fly. The books began in 2016 and have 11 volumes, including two short story collections, as of January 2021. The series is published under Shogakukan’s Gagagan Bunko label.

Yen Press describes the light novels as:

Tomozaki is one of the best gamers in Japan, and in his opinion, the game of real life is one of the worst. No clear-cut rules for success, horribly balanced, and nothing makes sense. But then he meets a gamer who’s just as good as him, and she offers to teach him a few exploits…
