A new key visual for the upcoming anime Kotaro Lives Alone has been revealed. LIDEN FILMS is slated to produce the adaptation. No specific release date has been announced yet.

Mami Tsumura’s original manga series is currently running in Shogakukan’s Big Comic Superior magazine, with over 1.4 million copies sold and eight tankoubon volumes in print. The series also inspired a 10-episode live action television drama that ran on TV Asahi from April 24, 2021 to June 26, 2021.

A teaser trailer and initial visual were released from Netflix back in November 2021 with a worldwide release in 2022. Netflix describes the series as:

Ding-dong! There is a little boy standing at the door. He hands over a nice box of tissues as a gift and says, “My name is Satou, and I have just moved in to number 203. Pleased to make your acquaintance.” He is Satou Kotaro, and he has moved into Shimizu Apartments to live by himself. He is four years old. He makes his daily shopping trips alone with a toy sword strapped to his side. Both grown-up and childish at the same time, Kotaro starts to affect the people around him with his wise ways. This is the story of a four-year-old boy who is determined to live strong until the day he can live with his parents.

Rie Kugimiya (Eden’s Zero) will star as the titular character while Toshiki Masuda (My Next Life As A Villainess: All Routes Lead To Doom!) will play his neighbor Karino. Saori Hayami (The Irregular At Magic High School) has also been cast as Mizuki Akitomo and Junichi Suwabe (Tribe Nine) will play Isamu Tamaru.

Tomoe Makino (Woodpecker’s Detective Office) will serve as director for the anime series. Yuu Satou (Space Battleship Tiramisu) will be in charge of series composition while Tomomi Kimura (Kochouki ~ Wakaki Nobunaga ~ co-sub character designer) will handle the character designs.
