Upcoming GRIDMANxDYNAZENON Project Revealed To Be Movie

The GRIDMAN×DYNAZENON project that was teased at the end of SSSS.DYNAZENON’s finale has been revealed to be a movie. A visual and announcement video were also released.

The movie has the tentative title of GRIDMAN×DYNAZENON Kanzen Shinsaku Gekijouban (Completely New Theatrical Production).

The staff includes Akira Amemiya as director, Keiichi Hasegawa as scriptwriter, Masaru Sakamoto as character designer, and Shirou Sagisu as music composer. All four previously fulfilled the same roles for the earlier entries in the GRIDMAN UNIVERSE, SSSS.GRIDMAN and SSSS.DYNAZENON. TRIGGER is the animation production studio.

SSSS.DYNAZENON aired during the Spring 2021 season while SSSS.GRIDMAN aired during the Fall 2018 season. The TRIGGER-produced shows are inspired by Tsuburaya Productions’s 1993 Gridman: The Hyper Agent tokusatsu series.

Another Gridman: The Hyper Agent-inspired anime is the 2015 Denkou Choujin Gridman: boys invent great hero animated short, which was created for the Japan Anima(tor)’s Exhibition. As with SSSS.Gridman and SSSS.Dynazenon, boys invent great hero was produced by TRIGGER and directed by Amemiya.

Crunchyroll describes SSSS.GRIDMAN as:

Yuta Hibiki can’t remember who he is, and now he’s seeing and hearing things that others don’t! A voice from an old computer tells him to remember his calling, and he sees a massive, unmoving creature in the distance. Nothing’s making sense—until the behemoth springs to life! Suddenly, Yuta is pulled into the digital world, reappearing in the real one as the colossal hero—Gridman!

Meanwhile, Amazon describes SSSS.DYNAZENON as:

When Yomogi Asanaka meets Gauma, he claims to be a “kaiju user.” But the appearance of a kaiju followed by the entry of the gigantic robot, Dynazenon, backs up his mysterious words.
