Utawarerumono 20th Anniversary Game Monochrome Moebius: Toki no Taika Announced

Aquaplus announced that it is developing a new game in the Utawarerumono franchise titled Monochrome Moebius: Toki no Taika as part of the series’ 20th anniversary. The game will launch sometime in 2022. Its platforms are yet to be announced.

Suga Munemitsu (Utawarerumono franchise head writer) is credited for the game’s original concept and script, series character designers Tatsuki Amazuyu and Misato Mitsumi will return for the original character designs, and Aquaplus composer Naoya Shimokawa is the game’s music composer.

The first Utawarerumono game was released in 2002, while the second game was released in 2015. The series has inspired spin-offs, manga, and various anime adaptations, including 2006’s Utawarerumono, a 2009 Utawareumono OVA, 2015’s Utawarerumono The False Faces, and the 2018 Utawarerumono: Tusukuru-koujo no Karei Naru Hibi OVA.

The latest game in the franchise Utawarerumono: Mask of Truth, released in Japan in 2016 for PS3, PS4, and PS Vita. An English version was published in 2017. The game was later released on Steam in 2020.
