The official Twitter account for the anime adaptation of Ryo Shirakome‘s Arifureta – From Commonplace to World’s Strongest (Arifureta Shokugyou de Sekai Saikyou) light novel series revealed a new key visual, additional cast members, and the January 13 premiere date for the anime’s upcoming second season.
The newly added cast members include Katsuyuki Konishi as Freid Bagwa, Makoto Ishii as Mikhail, Noriko Shibasaki as Liliana S. B. Heiligh, and Rina Satou as Noint. The anime’s returning cast members include Toshinari Fukamachi as Hajime Nagumo, Yuuki Kuwahara as Yue, Minami Takahashi as Shea, Yoko Hikasa as Tio Klarus, Saori Oonishi as Kaori Shirasaki, and Yumiri Hanamori as Shizuku Yaegashi.
The anime’s staff includes Akira Iwanaga (The Morose Mononokean) as the anime’s new director, Shoichi Sato returns as the script supervisor, Chika Kojima returns as the character designer and chief animation director, and Ryou Takahashi returns as music composer. The animation production will be from asread and Studio Mother. MindaRyn will perform the opening theme song “Daylight.”
The first season of Arifureta premiered in July 2019. Funimation streamed the series as it aired and describes the story as:
Hajime Nagumo and his high school class are suddenly summoned to a fantastical land as heroes. But while most of his classmates have powerful stats and abilities, Hajime does not. Underappreciated and unprepared, he tumbles into the depths of a monster-infested dungeon where voracity and sacrifice are his only options.
