Shoot! Goal to the Future Anime Announced for 2022

A new website launched to announce that Tsukasa Ooshima‘s soccer-themed manga Shoot! is getting a new original TV anime adaptation titled Shoot! Goal to the Future to premiere sometime in 2022. The animation production will be from EMT Squared. A key visual was also revealed.

The original Shoot! manga ran in Kodansha’s Weekly Shounen Magazine between 1990 and 2003 and has more than 50 million copies in print. The manga’s first anime adaptation titled Aoki Densetsu Shoot! premiered in 1993 and was produced by Toei Animation. The anime’s short sequel film premiered in 1994.

The anime’s official website describes the story as:

Atsushi Kamiya, a former captain at Kakegawa High School and the world-renowned “courageous captain” for a famous Italian soccer team…

And Hideto Tsuji, a student at Kakegawa High School, who seems uninterested in the now-weakened soccer team…
Their meeting is the start of a new legend…
