An official website and Twitter account opened to announce that Souichirou Yamamoto’s (Teasing Master Takagi-san creator) In the Heart of Kunoichi Tsubaki (Kunoichi Tsubaki no Mune no Uchi) manga is getting a TV anime adaptation slated for 2022. A visual and teaser promotional video previewing Tsubaki’s voice actress Yuuko Natsuyoshi performing the ending theme song “Akane-gumi Katsudō Nisshi ~Inuhan~” was also revealed.
Additionally, Aniplex announced that it is recruiting composers and artists to produce different versions of the ending theme song “Akane-gumi Katsudо̄ Nisshi ~Inuhan~.” Winners will receive 90,000 yen (~US$795).
The anime’s main staff includes Takuhiro Kadochi (My Hero Academia episode director) as director, Konomi Shugo (Tropical-Rouge! Precure) as series scriptwriter and supervisor, and Yousuke Okuda (Is the order a rabbit?) as character designer. Yuusuke Shirato (Kochoki, Lost Song) is composing the music. The animation production will be from CloverWorks.
The In the Heart of Kunoichi Tsubaki manga launched in Gessan (Monthly Shonen Sunday) magazine in January 2018. Shogakukan published the manga’s fifth volume on August 12, with the sixth volume to release on Friday. The manga has a total of over 10 million copies sold.
The comedy manga follows the titular Tsubaki Kunoichi, a young girl who lives in in a village of women who forbids contact with men, yet Tsubaki cannot help her curiosity about men.
