New Bungo Stray Dogs Anime Season Announced

The Bungo Stray Dogs anime is set to receive a new season. A visual from character designer and chief animation director Nobuhiro Arai was also released.

Aside from Arai, the returning staff includes Takuya Igarashi as director and Youji Enokido as series composer, with Bones as the animation production company.

Bungo Stray Dogs is based on the manga written by Kafka Asagiri and illustrated by Sango Harukawa, which began in 2012 and has 21 tankoubon volumes as of August 2021. The first two anime seasons were released in 2016, while the third was released in 2019.

A movie titled Bungo Stray Dogs: DEAD APPLE was released in 2018. In early 2021, an adaptation of the Bungo Stray Dogs WAN! spin-off was released, with Bones co-producing the show with Nomad.

Crunchyroll describes the main series as:

Kicked out of his orphanage and on the verge of starving to death, Nakajima Atsushi meets some strange men. One of them, Dazai Osamu, is a suicidal man attempting to drown himself in broad daylight. The other, bespectacled Kunikida Doppo, nervously stands by flipping through a notepad. Both are members of the “Armed Detective Agency” said to solve incidents that even the military and police won’t touch. Atsushi ends up accompanying them on a mission to eliminate a man-eating tiger that’s been terrorizing the population…
