The Dawn of the Witch Anime Premieres April 2022

The Magazine Pocket Twitter account has revealed that the upcoming The Dawn of the Witch anime will premiere in April 2022.

The anime is based on the light novels by Kakeru Kobashiri, who tweeted about the adaptation in April. Kodansha describes The Dawn of the Witch as a sequel to Kobashiri‘s Grimoire of Zero light novels.

The Dawn of the Witch began in 2018 and has four volumes as of November 2021. It spawned a manga adaptation in 2020. Takashi Iwasaki drew the illustrations of the light novels, while the manga is drawn by Tatsuwo.

Kodansha describes the manga as:

Cervil is a magic student with no memories of his life before he met a mysterious blond woman in an alley. Now he travels with his teacher, Ross—another student, Holt, and the beastman Coudeau for “special training”… but this field trip may not be as routine as it seems!

Grimoire of Zero, which ran from 2014 to 2017 with 11 volumes, inspired its own anime adaptation in 2017, with White Fox in charge of the animation production.

Amazon describes the Grimoire of Zero anime as:

When a half-beast mercenary teams up with a witch who is in search of a magical tome that can destroy the world, a grand adventure ensues. Despite his hatred of witches, he enters an agreement that she will make him human once she reaches her goal.
