Tokyo Twenty Fourth Ward, a new original anime produced by CloverWorks, will premiere in January 2022. A teaser visual and a video previewing the voices of the characters were released, as were staff and cast details.

The staff includes Naokatsu Tsuda (JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Golden Wind chief director) as director, Nitroplus’s Vio Shimokura (YOU and ME and HER: A Love Story scenario writer) as series composer and scriptwriter, FiFS’s Shuuji Sogabe (The Idolmaster: SideM original animation character designer) and Kanako Nono (Prince of Stride: Alternative source material character designer) as original character designers, Takahiro Kishida (Kageki Shojo!!) as character designer, and Hideyuki Fukasawa (Fate/Grand Order THE MOVIE Divine Realm of the Round Table co-composer) as music composer.

Meanwhile, the cast includes Junya Enoki as Shuuta Aosei, Yuuma Uchida as Ran Shushiro, and Kaito Ishikawa as Yuuki Hidou.

Tokyo Twenty Fourth Ward follows close childhood friends Shuuta, Ran, and Yuuki, who hail from the titular 24th Ward. A year after an incident that changed their relationship, the three reunite during a memorial mass dedicated to said incident, only to simultaneously receive a phone call from a supposedly dead friend. As the “Future Selection” draws near, it is up to Shuuta, Ran, and Yuuki to protect the future of their beloved 24th Ward and its inhabitants.

Melvyn originally wanted to write about video games, and he did so for a few years, starting from his college days. He still writes about video games sometimes, but now focuses on anime-related news content and the occasional review. Some of his free time is spent self-learning Japanese, both out of interest in the language and because English-translated light novels and manga are expensive. Every anime season, Melvyn looks forward to discovering new standout episodes and OP/ED animation sequences, as well as learning about the storyboard artists and directors behind them.
