The upcoming Re:cycle of the Penguindrum anime has received a teaser visual. The visual depicts an illustration of an apple, a recurring motif of the original 2011 Penguindrum series, and the penguin headdress worn by Himari Takakura.
The two-part movie is set to release in 2022. It is a reconstruction of Penguindrum and will feature new scenes.
Re:cycle of the Penguindrum was announced as one of the series’ 10th anniversary projects alongside a crowdfunding campaign. The movie will be directed by the series’ Kunihiko Ikuhara, with manga artist Lily Hoshino handling the character draft designs. Lapin Track is the animation production company.
The original 24-episode series had Brain’s Base as its animation production studio. A manga adaptation was published from 2013 to 2017.
