Reincarnated as a Sword Gets Anime Adaptation

An anime adaptation of the Reincarnated as a Sword light novel series has been announced.

The light novel series, which is written by Yū Tanaka and illustrated by Rurō, began in 2016 and has 12 volumes as of September 2021. The story first began as a web novel on Shōsetsuka ni Narō.

Reincarnated as a Sword has also received a manga adaptation and a manga spin-off.

Seven Seas Entertainment describes the story as:

A modern man is reborn into a fantasy world as a sword in this new isekai light novel series!

Reincarnated as a sentient weapon with memories of his past life, but not his name, a magical sword saves a young beastgirl from a life of slavery. Fran, the cat-eared girl, becomes his wielder, and wants only to grow stronger, while the sword wants to know why he is here. Together, the strange duo’s journey has only just begun!

Melvyn originally wanted to write about video games, and he did so for a few years, starting from his college days. He still writes about video games sometimes, but now focuses on anime-related news content and the occasional review. Some of his free time is spent self-learning Japanese, both out of interest in the language and because English-translated light novels and manga are expensive. Every anime season, Melvyn looks forward to discovering new standout episodes and OP/ED animation sequences, as well as learning about the storyboard artists and directors behind them.
