Kyoto Animation has uploaded the first two episodes of its 2009 series Sora wo Miageru Shōjo no Hitomi ni Utsuru Sekai on YouTube for a limited time. The episodes will be available until January 4, 2022.
The upload comes ahead of the Munto series Blu-ray release on December 22 this year. Munto is the title of the 2003 OVA that was KyoAni’s first independent production and the anime that Sora wo Miageru Shōjo no Hitomi ni Utsuru Sekai is based on.
KyoAni is also running a campaign in which fans can express their anticipation for the Blu-ray release, their impressions of the uploaded two episodes, or their memories of the Sora wo Miageru Shōjo no Hitomi ni Utsuru Sekai TV broadcast and its The Last War of the Heavanliods and Akutoliods movie finale through posts.
Winners will be chosen via lottery, with the total prize pool consisting of five non-commercial posters and 10 original sticker chirashi.
The late Yoshiji Kigami served as director, co-series composer, and episode director for Sora wo Miageru Shōjo no Hitomi ni Utsuru Sekai. He also served as director, co-series composer, storyboarder, and unit director for The Last War of the Heavanliods and Akutoliods. Additionally, Kigami was previously the director, scenario writer, storyboarder, and unit director for Munto and its 2005 OVA sequel, Munto 2: Beyond the Walls of Time.
KyoAni describes The Last War of the Heavanliods and Akutoliods as:
