Also revealed were an image of the characters and new staff details. The newly announced staff include Masaki Mayuzumi (Dr. Ramune -Mysterious Disease Specialist-) as art director, Katsuragi Imazato (The Seven Deadly Sins: Cursed By Light) as color designer, Shinyo Kondō (The Seven Deadly Sins: Cursed By Light) as photography director, and Kana Shibue (Devils’ Line) as music composer.

Sasaki and Miyano is based on the manga by Shō Harusono, which began in 2016 and has seven tankōbon volumes as of November 2020. It also inspired a spin-off manga featuring side characters Taiga and Akira Kagiura, two light novels, and a drama CD.

Yen Press describes the story as:

It all started like a typical old-school boys’ love plotline—bad-boy senior meets adorably awkward underclassman, one of them falls in love, and so on and so forth. But although Miyano is a self-proclaimed boys’ love expert, he hasn’t quite realized…he’s in one himself. Which means it’s up to Sasaki to make sure their story has a happily ever after…!

The cast includes Yūsuke Shirai as Shōmei Sasaki, Sōma Saitō as Yoshikazu Miyano, Yoshitsugu Matsuoka as Taiga Hirano, Yūki Ono as Jirō Okasawara, Yūma Uchida as Masato Hanzawa, Ryōhei Arai as Tasuke Kuresawa, and Mitsuhiro Ichiki as Gonzaburō Tashiro.
