Pokémon Evolutions Animated Series Premieres in September

The Pokémon Company International announced Pokémon Evolutions, a new animated series produced in collaboration with Studio OLM to celebrate the franchise’s 25th anniversary.

The eight-episode series will span all generations of the core Pokémon video games, with a new episode dedicated to one of the games’ regions every week. The regions will appear in reverse chronological order from their original corresponding games. The first episode, releasing Thursday, September 9, will center on the recent Pokémon Sword & Pokémon Shield’s Galar region, while the final episode on December 23 will be set in the first generation’s Kanto region.

The series will stream for free on The Official Pokémon YouTube channel and on the Pokémon TV app. The episode runtime remains to be seen, though it is likely they will be short in a similar manner to 2016’s Pokémon Generations and 2020’s Pokémon: Twilight Wings, which both aired 5-minute episodes on the same YouTube channel.

The Pokémon Company International describes Pokémon Evolutions as:

Familiar tales from Pokémon lore will be told from a fresh perspective in every episode.

Both the key visual and trailer support this synopsis with images of various characters from the core video game series.
