The official website for the upcoming untitled anime film of Takehiko Inoue’s Slam Dunk manga revealed a new teaser trailer announcing the film’s Fall 2022 premiere window. The film’s staff members were also revealed.
Inoue will write and direct the film himself. Yasuyuki Ebara (Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress) serves as character designer and animation director, with Katsuhiko Kitada (Major: Yūjō no Winning Shot), Naoki Miyahara (Digimon Adventure, Popin Q), Toshio Ōhashi (LayereD Stories 0), Haruka Kamatani (Looking for Magical DoReMi, Precure Super Stars!), Suganuma Fumihiko (Another prop designer), and Motoda Yasuhiro (Ajin chief animation director) as unit directors, Daiki Nakazawa (Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods) as CG director, Yūta Ogura (One Piece Film Gold) as CG producer, Shunsuke Namura (Babylon co-photography director) as photography director, Kazuo Ogura (Attack on Titan The Final Season) as art director, and Yota Tsuruoka (Violet Evergarden: The Movie) and Koji Kasamatsu (The Wind Rises) as sound directors. The animation production will be from Toei Animation.
The Slam Dunk manga ran in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump magazine from 1990 to 1996 for a total of 31 volumes. The manga spanned a TV anime in 1993 along with several films. Crunchyroll streams the anime and describes its story as:
