BEASTARS Anime Is Getting a Continuation

The BEASTARS anime series will continue beyond its second season, with animation studio Orange announcing a new arc for the adaptation on its English and Japanese Twitter pages. An artwork by Paru Itagaki, the author of the original manga, was shared alongside the announcement.

“Thanks to everyone who supports our show. Orange will continue to animate the show!” said the tweet.

BEASTARS Season 2 released globally on July 15 on Netflix, after initially airing in Japan from January to March. The anime’s first season premiered in October 2019 in Japan and released globally in early 2020.

Both Beastars seasons were directed by Shinichi Matsumi with Nanami Higuchi as scriptwriter, Nao Ootsu as character designer, Eiji Inomoto as chief CG director, Minami Kasuga as art director, Satoshi Hashimoto as color designer, and Satoru Kousaki as music composer. Shiori Furusho and Chae Baek Ryun served as photography directors on Season 1, while Season 2 only had Chae in the role.

Netflix describes the show as:

In a world where beasts of all kinds coexist, a gentle wolf awakens to his own predatory urges as his school deals with a murder within its midst

The BEASTARS manga series began in 2016 and ended in 2020 with 22 volumes.

Melvyn originally wanted to write about video games, and he did so for a few years, starting from his college days. He still writes about video games sometimes, but now focuses on anime-related news content and the occasional review. Some of his free time is spent self-learning Japanese, both out of interest in the language and because English-translated light novels and manga are expensive. Every anime season, Melvyn looks forward to discovering new standout episodes and OP/ED animation sequences, as well as learning about the storyboard artists and directors behind them.
