Shin Ikki Tousen Manga Gets Anime Adaptation

The official website for Yuji Shiozaki’s Ikki Tousen series announced that the Shin Ikki Tousen manga is receiving an anime adaptation set to premiere sometime next year.

Wani Books’ Monthly Comic Gum magazine launched and serialized the original Ikki Tousen manga in 2000 until the magazine suspended publication in May 2015. The manga then continued serialization on the Monthly Comic Gum website, which was renamed WEB Comic Gum, until August 2015.

The Shin Ikki Tousen manga launched in Shonengahosha’s Young King Ours magazine in November 2015. Shonen Gahosha published the manga’s fourth volume in March 2020. The manga has inspired multiple previous anime and OVAs.

Anime News Network describes the original Ikki Tousen manga as:

Shiozaki’s original Ikki Tousen manga centers around Hakufu Sonsaku, a high school student who possesses a magatama that allows her to channel the spirit of the warrior Sun Ce from China’s Three Kingdoms era. She fights students from other high schools, each bearing their own magatama and embodying a different hero from the era.
