Evangelion: 3.0+1.01 To Stream on Prime Video in August

Evangelion: 3.0+1.01 Thrice Upon A Time will make its way to Prime Video on August 13. The movie will be available in over 240 countries and territories excluding Japan, with Deadline reporting that it will be dubbed in 10 languages and subtitled in 28 languages as well.

The Khara-produced Evangelion: 3.0+1.01 Thrice Upon A Time, which is the fourth and final installment of a quadrilogy, will also be joined by the preceding three Rebuild of Evangelion movies⁠ (Evangelion: 1.0 You Are [Not] AloneEvangelion: 2.0 You Can [Not] Advance, and Evangelion: 3.0 You Can (Not) Redo) on Prime Video. The movies are a retelling of the 1995 Neon Genesis Evangelion series, which is currently streaming on Netflix along with the Death and Rebirth and The End of Evangelion movies.

In an announcement on the Khara website, chief director and scriptwriter Hideaki Anno said, “We were looking for the best way to offer the movie to fans overseas as early as possible in a challenging situation with movie theatres during COVID-19, and are happy to have found Prime Video as a partner to stream it globally.”

The original version of the movie, titled Evangelion 3.0+1.0: Thrice Upon A Time, opened in Japan on March 8 after several delays and later became the top-grossing entry of the Rebuild of Evangelion quadrilogy. Evangelion: 3.0+1.01 contains several animation revisions, but does not alter the story.

Update: It was announced on July 20 that Prime Video will also stream the movie in Japan on August 13.
