Warner Brothers Japan’s official anime YouTube channel announced Strike The Blood’s fifth OVA series through a short PV. Titled Strike The Blood FINAL, the OVA series was announced ahead of the official release day of the final volume of the fourth OVA series.
Adapted from Gakuto Mikumo’s light novel series of the same name, the franchise’s TV 24-episode anime series first aired in October 2013. The first two-episode OVA season aired in November 2015, followed by the second OVA season in November 2016, the third OVA season in December 2018, and the fourth OVA season in January 2020.
The TV anime and the four OVA seasons were directed by Hideyo Yamamoto with Takao Sano as chief director for the TV anime. Hiroyuki Yoshino acted as series composer, with Keiichi Sano as character designer, and Jin Aketagawa as sound director for almost all of the franchise, excluding the third OVA season, Strike The Blood III.

“The fourth true ancestor” is a legendarily strong vampire that shouldn’t exist. Accompanied by the 12 “gun-beasts,” this phantom vampire is said to have appeared in Japan. In order to find and kill this “fourth true ancestor,” the government and the Lion King Organization order the dispatch of attack mages called “sword-maidens.” For some reason an apprentice named Yukina Himeragi was chosen for the task. Wielding the strongest spiritual spear, Yukina comes to the special demon district Itokami City. There she encounters Kojou Akatsuki and learns the true nature of the “fourth true ancestor.”
